The EDERA (Early warning Demonstration of pan-European rainfall-induced impact forecasts) project was selected to participate in the second Civil Protection and Emergencies National Congress, the Spanish annual meeting point for experts and professionals in emergency management.

Organized under the motto “More efficient. Safer” by the Spanish Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Emergencies and the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response, the current edition was held at the Valencian Institute of Public Safety and Emergencies (IVASPE) in Cheste, Valencia, from 17h to 18th October 2023.

On the first day of the event, Prof. Marc Berenguer, acting as coordinator of the project (as well as Director of Research of the Center of Applied Research in Hydrometeorology of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech), presented the EDERA web-based platform and flash flood impact forecasting products to support emergency management at European scale to an audience mainly made up of professionals.

During his participation in the thematic panel “Emergency Prevention and Management”, Berenguer also explained how EDERA outcomes can foster sharing information and improve the cooperation of Civil Protection Authorities during cross-border events and coordination between them at different levels.
